The Meaning and History of Alexandrite. Alexandrite is the birthstone for the month of June (along with the pearl) and the Anniversary stone for the 55th year of marriage. It is also considered Friday's stone, or the stone of “Friday's Child.” It is an extremely rare gemstone and a fairly modern one to boot.

Alexandrite is the stone for healing the seventh chakra of the body, which is “Sahasrara”. It is believed that the person who wears alexandrite establishes a balance in his body, between the mental, physical, and astral elements. 

It is believed that this stone can improve blood circulation by purifying the blood and strengthening the blood vessels. Crystal healers also claim that Alexandrite is helpful in treating conditions affecting the pancreas and spleen. It can help with leukemia treatment and with the regeneration of neurological tissues.
